If a stylist or salon has caused you injury, you can file a complaint with the CA Board of Barbering & Cosmetology. (Check your state info if you’re not in CA.)

Please Note: The board will most likely not find in your favor because their responsibility is to protect licensed stylists, not protect the public. But, file the complaint anyway, because if a stylist or salon racks up enough complaints, the board will take the complaints more seriously.

Unfortunately, once the board takes your complaint for investigation, the case is reviewed by another stylist who gets paid $35/hour. It is rare these reviewers will want to call out another stylist. You can see on their website just how few cases the accused stylist was found at fault.
